Cyberpunk 2077 Gameplay Demo Shows How Character Mods And Ability Upgrades Work

Although Cyberpunk 2077 is an RPG at its heart, the game does away with traditional character classes altogether and instead gives you a wide range of abilities to choose from. In the 48-minute gameplay reveal footage, time was dedicated to showcasing how modifications are done and the sorts of capabilities you’ll have. Specifically, you visit “ripperdocs” to install or upgrade your cyberware which grant you access to benefits like increased weapon damage or enhanced visual cues in combat, but it comes at a cost.

In the video clip above, main character V purchases two augmentations from the ripperdoc named Victor. One is a subdermal grip that allows use of locked weapons with a 50% reduction in damage, but increases damage on owned weapons and melee attacks. The other upgrade is an optical scanner that grants the ability to scan for environmental data and analyze NPC affiliations and weak points. The game also shows the installation process for these modifications as Victor walks V through the details. Ripperdocs are all over Night City, but there will be special ripperdocs that offer black market military-grade cyberware.
