Left Alive’s new trailer shows off a future full of guns and mechs

Developer Square Enix debuted a new trailer for survival game Left Alive during Sony’s pre-Tokyo Game Show 2018 press conference.

The trailer shows off the game’s world, which appears to be a war-torn city caught in the middle of a conflict between two armies. Although not the focus of the footage, giant mechs that wander the streets do appear a few times, hinting — as did the original teaser — that mechs could play a large role in the game’s combat.

According to Square Enix, Left Alive is a “survival action shooter,” and will follow the storyline of “three main protagonists, each with their own stories, missions and paths to salvation.”

The development team behind Left Alive at Square Enix is led by several veterans including director Toshifumi Nabeshima, who has previously worked on the Armored Core series; mech designer Takayuki Yanase, whose credits include the Ghost in the Shell and Gundam games; and Yoji Shinkawa, the character designer for the Metal Gear Solid series.

Left Alive is scheduled to launch sometime in 2019 on both PlayStation 4 and Windows PC.
