Reader Discussion: Which Battle Royale Game Are You Most Looking Forward To?

A quick look at Twitch daily streaming numbers confirms what most of us already knew – battle royale games like Fornite and PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds are still massively popular. But those huge player bases could soon be split among several more games.  Later this year, Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 will join the fight for battle royale supremacy with its Blackout mode. Battlefield V also has a battle royale mode coming in the near future, and several lower-profile titles like Housemarque’s Stormdivers and Automaton’s Mavericks: Proving Grounds are also preparing to skydive into the competition.  Which, if any, of these new ... By Liana ‘LiLi’ Ruppert – August 25, 2018 With the release of Fallout 76 on the horizon and Bethesda trying something a little new this go around, there’s a lot of reasons to celebrate. What better way to do just that than with an officially licensed Fallout rum? That’s right! Fallout rum is officially on the way! Bethesda is no stranger to more adult-geared partnerships. Back in 2015 they paired up with Carlsberg for a Fallout beer line and now they are going a little darker with Nuka-Cola Dark. These fine rum beverages will boast a 35% alcohol content and ... Which game would you cross with your favorite TV show or film?

Reigns: Game of Thrones, a crossover between Tinder-like ruling sim Reigns and HBO’s series about sad people wearing furs, might be the best GoT game made yet. That isn’t a huge compliment, as the Telltale series was nothing special, but we quite like Reigns, so it’s probably worth a go for Ice and Fire fans.  Comparisons aside, the crossover was a good match (hah), and an interesting one. Often, licensed games are designed to the specifications of the source material—in a game about Spider-man, you have to sling webs, right? But now and then things happen the other way around, ... What Kind of a Name is Rainbow?

Rainbow Six turned 20 this week, yet another in a series of impressive milestones for Ubisoft’s special ops series. We could equally well say it’s 20 years since the tactical shooter genre was born, 20 years since ‘realism’ was seriously applied to an FPS, or 20 years since the ‘Tom Clancy’ name began a journey towards becoming one of the most recognisable prefixes in gaming. Considering where it stands today, it’s impressive to think that the Tom Clancy video-game phenomenon started with just two developers at Red Storm’s North Carolina office, with little experience and no serious architecture underlying the game they were ...
