The Witcher’s Geralt challenges gamers to play to help fight cancer in new Stand Up To Cancer campaign

If you’re an avid gamer then you could soon be using your powers for good in reality as well as in the virtual world.

Stand Up To Cancer is calling on gamers across the UK to power up their consoles and take on a challenge in order to raise money for vital cancer research, with games including FIFA 19, Destiny 2 and Sonic Forces being part of the movement.

As part of the campaign the charity has released a short film narrated by American actor Doug Cockle, who voices Geralt of Rivia in The Witcher game series.

In the video we see several iconic characters, including Spyro and Destiny 2‘s Ikora Rey, showing grit and determination as they take on challenges and unite against cancer.

The fundraising campaign, which is being supported by EA Games, Activision and SEGA, is a joint effort between Cancer Research UK and Channel 4 and will raise money for ground-breaking research that will help save lives.

Cockle is delighted to be involved in the campaign, saying: “I am so pleased to be involved in Stand Up To Cancer’s 2018 campaign, bringing together the gaming community to help take on cancer and ban it from the game of life.

“It was a lot of fun doing the voice-over for all these cool characters from an incredible range of games. This horrible disease affects so many of us and it’s about time we got payback once and for all. Together we can make a difference.”

Game On, which is sponsored by BT, invites all gamers across the UK to sign up and there are lots of ways you can get involved, from hosting a FIFA tournament to taking on an extreme stream.
