A 30-hour RPG set in the world of Gwent and The Witcher.

CD Projekt Red has announced that Thronebreaker: The Witcher Tales, the standalone single-player campaign for GWENT: The Witcher Card Game, will be released on PC via GOG.com on October 23, 2018, and for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on December 4, 2018.

Thronebreaker “combines narrative-driven exploration with unique puzzles and card mechanics” and is set to be a 30-hour RPG set in the world of GWENT and The Witcher.

It was originally expected to be released last year, but due to the size and scope of what the team was creating, CD Projekt decided to release it as a standalone game instead of as part of GWENT: The Witcher Card Game.

Thronebreaker tells the “truly regal tale of Meve, a war-veteran queen of two Northern Realms — Lyria and Rivia. Facing an imminent Nilfgaardian invasion, Meve is forced to once again enter the warpath, and set out on a dark journey of destruction and revenge.”

As players progress through the campaign, they will “explore new and never-before-seen parts of The Witcher world, embark on thought-provoking quests featuring rich, multidimensional characters” and will be “expanding their army” to complete any and all challenges that stand in the way.

Thronebreaker: The Witcher Tales will be released on PC via GOG.com on October 23, 2018, and for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on December 4, 2018, although no price has yet been revealed.

The launch of Thronebreaker will coincide with GWENT leaving beta and the end of its Homecoming revamp that was put in place after GWENT “slowly drifted away from our original vision” and will improve player progression, focus more on skill and player agency rather than RNG, and much more.
