IFA starts this week and it’s announcement time. One area of technology that has been advancing at the speed of light is monitors (hah, get it? Light…monitors?) We’ve seen some crazy 4.5K UltraWide offerings, Samsung’s latest in the extra UltraWide department, and some regular offerings even just yesterday.

There were a few different monitors announced recently, with a new line from LG dubbed UltraGear and a company called Viotek, who is somewhat of a newcomer to the monitor space. Will LG’s UltraGear or Viotek’s latest curved bezel-less monitors find their way onto your desk?

We’ll start with LG’s UltraGear 21:9 monitors. These monitors are designed to follow the UltraFine and UltraWide offerings. The UltraGear line focuses on gaming over other aspects and should be great for when gamers want a good all-around monitor.

The 34GK950G, which is the flagship UltraGear monitor, features a 34-inch 21:9 design, 120Hz NVIDIA G-SYNC technology, and a 3440×1440 resolution.

You’ll receive DCI-P3 98% accuracy and Nano IPS technology that “promises even more detailed and wide-ranging colors for gaming.”

The 21:9 aspect ratio is a key factor here, as it provides quite a bit more screen real estate than regular 16:9 and can give you that edge you need while in game. Having a wider aspect ratio means you can see more of the battlefield, giving you a leg up on your competition.

The 120Hz refresh rate with NVIDIA’s G-SYNC technology means you’ll have buttery smooth gameplay at twice the normal refresh rate of a monitor.

On the rear of this monitor, you’ll find a light sphere that adds indirect lighting which can help reduce eye fatigue and can enhance your gaming experience.

I/O wise you’ll have one HDMI port, a DisplayPort, and USB 3.0. No Thunderbolt 3 here, sadly.

Pricing and availability for LG’s UltraGear line has yet to be announced.

On Viotek’s front, the company is introducing a new line of ultra-thin curved bezel-less monitors. These offerings feature a 75Hz refresh rate and AMD’s more budget-friendly FreeSync technology.

These monitors range from 24 to 32-inch and start at $180. All of Viotek’s latest monitors here feature a 1080p resolution, which is great for budget gaming or regular productivity.

These monitors have a 1800R curvature so you can see the entire screen with ease, and a 16:9 aspect ratio.

The larger 32-inch offering even features a built-in headset holder to help keep your desk area free of clutter when you’re not gaming.

Alongside the new line of monitors, Viotek is updating its 1080p gaming monitor to include a 144Hz refresh rate for those gamers who need those few extra FPS when gaming.

All of Viotek’s latest offerings are available via the company’s website with prices starting at $180.
