Elder Scrolls Online is launching the Halloween-themed Hollowjack Crown Crate Season on Thursday, September 20. Crown Crates contain a random selection of items and are usually bought with in-game currency purchased with real-world cash. However, ESO is promoting the Hollowjack Crown Crate Season by giving everyone a few crates for free.

Beginning at 12:00 AM GMT on Friday September 14 (8:00 PM Thursday September 13 on the US East Coast) players can earn one free Hollowjack Crown Crate per day for three days ending at 11:59 PM GMT Sunday September 16 (7:59 PM US East Coast). All you have to do to earn a crate is log in and kill any enemy NPC. The crates will be delivered under your Crown Crates menu on Wednesday September 19.

The Hollowjack Crates contain a variety of holiday themed items, costumes, furnishings, emotes, pets, mounts and more. Some items like the rare Hollowjack Rider Horse or the Daemon Cockerel pet can also be purchased for a limited time in the Crown Store once the Season begins. Others, like the very rare Hollowjack Flame-Skull Seneche or Wraith Lantern Steed can only be found in the Hollowjack Crates. The Hollowjack Netch pet will be available for 300 Crowns in the Crown Store and will not appear in the Crates. A list of all the items that can be found in the the Hollowjack Crates can be found here.

Spending cash for Crowns to buy Crates doesn’t appeal to everyone. However, those who would rather save their money for something else can still open a few Hollowjack Crown Crates if they log in today, tomorrow and Sunday and take a moment or two to kill an enemy. If you’re reading this, you were probably going to play some ESO this weekend anyway and the Hollowjack crates will be a nice bonus.
