Forsaken Will Soon Include Destiny 2’s Expansion Pass For Free

Bungie has announced that, starting October 16, the Destiny 2 Expansion Pass will be included in the Forsaken expansion for free. The developer hopes this convinces more players to take the plunge and try Forsaken, as you need to complete Destiny 2’s first two expansions–Curse of Osiris and Warmind–first.

Currently, the only way to get everything you need to play Destiny 2’s newest expansion is by buying the Forsaken: Complete Collection, which includes Destiny 2, Curse of Osiris, Warmind, and Forsaken for $100. With the new deal, you’ll get all of that for $60.

Acknowledging that players who have already bought Forsaken have already paid for Curse of Osiris and Warmind as well, Bungie outlined a series of rewards for anyone who’s already bought Forsaken prior to October 16. If you’ve already purchased Forsaken–or buy it before October 16–you’ll be awarded a unique Emblem and Shader, as well as the Knife Trick and Coin Flip emotes, and several consumables.

This bundle of special rewards will go out to all “Forsaken Veterans” in December. The Emblem and Shader will remain exclusive to players who buy Forsaken prior to October 16, but the two emotes will be made available on Eververse at “sometime in the future.” The consumables can be found in-game right now.

In our Forsaken review, GameSpot senior reviews editor Kallie Plagge gave the expansion an 8/10, writing, “There is a lot to do in Forsaken, so much so that it can be difficult to see it all. That also means that, for the average player, this expansion has a much longer tail than previous iterations of Destiny 2. The variety and flexibility of activities established in the base game still work to make grinding a good time, and Gambit adds a consistently entertaining mode to the roster. The endgame, while difficult to reach, is also where the most satisfaction can be found.”

Destiny 2 is available for Xbox One, PS4, and PC.
