Without a doubt, Epic Games has been keeping its free-to-play title Fortnite Battle Royale absolutely stocked with fresh content such as the new Shockwave Grenade, the revised area now dubbed Tomato Temple, and even a giant, mysterious cube roaming the map. Not one to rest on its laurels, Epic is set to continue bringing updates to the game, as the developer has now decided to reveal that it’s bringing an event called “High Stakes” to the title next week.
As explained in the tweet below from the official Fortnite Twitter account, the game’s High Stakes event will include a bevy of different items, such as a new Limited Time Mode called “Getaway”, the Wild Card outfit, as well as some High Stakes Challenges. Those who wish to get an early look at the content to come before it’s included in the multiplayer sandbox shooter would do well to check out Epic’s PAX stream on Twitch today at 6:00 PM PT to get a gander at some official gameplay.

As of now, it’s somewhat difficult to discern what exactly the High Stakes event will be other than the addition of the aforementioned LTM, outfit, and Challenges, as Epic isn’t being totally clear about what to expect. That said, though, there’s a chance that High Stakes could also include content in the way that last month’s Birthday event did, with players having been able to earn an emoticon, a spray, XP, and back bling by participating in matches, dealing out damage to opponents, and dancing.
Whatever else Epic might have planned for Fortnite‘s High Stakes event thankfully won’t be under wraps for long, so players won’t have to spend time speculating and concocting elaborate theories about what the studio could have in mind. In the meantime, those who have yet to complete Season 5 Week 7’s Battle Pass Challenges still have time to do so, but they will need to act quickly, as Week 8 is just over the horizon.
Fortnite is available now on iOS, Nintendo Switch, PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One, with an Android beta currently underway.
